Australian Year 12 Conversion Table

The following table is published as a guide for intending interstate applicants.  Shown in the first two columns of the table are the 2007 methods of reporting student achievements based on 2007 data.  The last column shows the approximate points of comparison of QTAC selection ranks with Year 12 results.  These are intended as an approximation only.

For admissions to tertiary courses in 2008, all States/Territories of Australia produced overall measures of their students' 2007 achievements in a common index that allowed for comparisons to be made across States/Territories and across time.  In NSW/ACT, this index is called the UAI; in Victoria, the ENTER; and in SA/NT, WA and Tasmania, the TER.  This means that a UAI of 81.55 equals an ENTER of 81.55 equals a TER of 81.55.

Queensland provides, to the appropriate authorities, individual ranks calculated according to the Interstate Transfer Index for Queensland students formally applying for tertiary admission interstate.  However, within the State, students' achievements are reported as Overall Positions, with Field Positions and other criteria used, if necessary, for finer rankings.
